Five Eagles earn 2024 CSC Academic All-District Softball Honors

Courtney Ball and Janai Conklin earned honors for second straight year, while Faith Barth, Gracie Bellard, and Emma Davis earned honors for first time.

Georgia Southern Softball placed five student-athletes on the 2024 Collegiate Sports Communicators Academic All-District team as announced by the organization Tuesday afternoon.  

Fifth-year senior Janai Conklin, senior Courtney Ball, junior Faith Barth, junior Gracie Bellard, and sophomore Emma Davis were named to the team as each student-athlete carried at least a 3.50 cumulative GPA. 

For the second consecutive season, Conklin and Ball earned a spot on the All-District team. The Miami, Fla., native carried a 3.70 GPA in criminal justice and criminology this season after graduating with her bachelor's degree in criminal justice and criminology in 2023. Conklin hit .223 including two doubles, five home runs, and 20 RBI in 44 games played for the Eagles. 

Meanwhile, Ball carried a 3.87 GPA in sport management, graduating with her bachelor's degree from Georgia Southern this month. The Macon, Ga., native hit .200 in 41 games played including two doubles, a home run, and 12 RBI. 

Barth earns the academic honor for the first time in her career with a 3.77 cumulative GPA in sport management. The junior started all 51 games for the Eagles batting .301 including a team-high 13 doubles, two home runs annd 28 RBI. The Dacula, Ga., native drew 20 walks for a .401 on base percentage. 

Bellard earns the academic honor for the first time in her career. The Opelousas, La., native carried a 3.64 GPA in interdisciplinary studies. She started 43 games for the Eagles batting .191 including four doubles and eight RBI. 

Davis earns the honor for the first time in her career after carrying a 3.79 in criminal justice and criminology. The Grayson, Ga. native, was named second team All-Sun Belt and third-team NFCA All-Region this season. The sophomore led the team with a .384 batting average including five doubles, one home run, and 19 RBI. She drew 24 walks for a team-high .468 on base percentage. 

Davis will advance to national balloting for possible Academic All-American honors, which will be announced in June. To be eligible for CSC Academic All-District Softball honors, student-athletes must be a starter or important reserve with at least a 3.50 cumulative GPA.
