Eleven Georgia Southern baseball players have kept busy after the conclusion of the baseball season by playing in various summer baseball leagues around the country. Over the course of the coming week, we will be checking in on our players and seeing how they are performing over the summer. For today, we will be looking at OF Cameron Cosby, INF/OF Jonathan Jaime, INF Jarret Jenkins, and RHP Bradley Pendley out of the Coastal Plain League.
CAMERON CROSBY
Crosby has appeared in 14 games for the 17-12 Macon Bacon this season, who are 6-4 in its previous 10 games. Crosby has tallied a .238 batting average including 10 hits with a triple, along with six RBI and three runs of his own. He also has walked four times and knocked three sacrifice bunts so far. Crosby had back-to-back games with multiple hits to start the month of July, going 2-for-3 against the Asheboro Zookeepers on July 1, followed by a 2-for-4 performance against the Florence Flamingos on July 6. He had an RBI in both games as well, raising his OBP as high as .341 during these games. Both games were wins for the Bacon, 4-3 and 2-1 respectively.
JONATHAN JAIME
Jaime has appeared in 16 games for the Lexington County Blowfish this summer, earning a .250 batting average. He made his presence known from day one with LC, blasting a 407ft home run on Opening Night to help the Blowfish start the season with an 8-4 win over the Boone Bigfoots. Jaime has 13 hits with eight extra base hits, six doubles and two homers, along with seven walks and two sacrifice bunts. He also has 10 RBI and 10 runs of his own on the year so far. The Blowfish are currently 15-10 and one game back from the lead in the CPL West Division.
JARRETT JENKINS
Jenkins has appeared in 23 games for the Bacon this season, posting a .287 batting average this season. He has knocked 25 hits with three extra base hits, two doubles and a home run than came against the Blowfish on June 16. In that game, he also had three RBI and brought his OPS up to .771. Jenkins's best performance of the season came on the next night against the Blowfish, where he went 4-for-5 including two doubles, two RBI, an two run as the Bacon topped the Blowfish 12-2. After that game, he saw his OPS rise to a season-high .890.
BRADY PENDLEY
Pendley has appeared in nine games for the Bacon, coming in relief in all of those appearances. He holds a 3-1 record along with one save with a 2.74 ERA in 19.2 innings of work, fanning 27 batters while only walking nine. In Pendley's latest appearance, he earned his third win by pitching for five full innings while only allowing two earned runs, sitting down seven against the Forest City Owls.
