Bulloch Academy senior golf athlete, Griffin Garvin, signs athletic scholarship to West Point Military Academy

STATESBORO – Bulloch Academy senior golf athlete, Griffin Garvin, inked his letter of intent to play golf at the next level at West Point Military Academy. Garvin has been playing golf at a high level since he was little.

He’s traveled for years competing in tournaments all over the Southeastern U.S. Garvin is excited for his opportunity to play college golf, but West Point Military Academy is more than a way for him to play at the next level. It’s a way for him to better himself and do more for his country. Garvin had multiple schools interested in him coming to play, but West Point Military Academy stood out the most to him.

“West Point was going to better myself than most,” Garvin said. “It was gonna produce the best Griffin Garvin possible and it really just came down to that.”

Garvin was so thankful to his family for taking their time to give him the best opportunities to succeed. From missing work and skipping school to take him to tournaments he knows that where he is now would not have been possible without them.

His family is so proud of him and know that his family history has had a huge impact on him and his decision to play at West Point. To some, West Point Military Academy didn’t come as a surprise. Garvin’s grandparents served in the military as well and being such a disciplined child growing up, his parents knew that this decision would be a no brainer for him.

He’s looked up to both of his grandfathers and wanted to serve, so we’re proud of him for that, so it’s more than golf for him.” Elizabeth Garvin, Griffin Garvin’s mother, said.

Garvin had many coaches who were proud of the young man he has become and the impact he was going to have not only on himself, but the people around him the further he went. His new team at West Point can’t wait to welcome him into the fold.

“We’re unbelievably excited to welcome Griffin Garvin to West Point this summer,” West Point’s golf coach Chad Bagley said. “From a golf perspective, we know Griffin will make the Army Golf Team better the very first day he steps on campus; but more importantly, we’re grateful to welcome a young man to West Point with great character, a selfless heart, and with the moral courage to walk the narrow path. Griffin is going to be a tremendous leader on our team, in the United States Corps of Cadets, and very soon in our Nation’s Army!”
