Mr. WD Vickery, age 73, died Wednesday, July 10, 2024, at his residence. The native and lifelong resident of Bulloch County was a 1969 graduate of Statesboro High School. Following high school, WD entered the U. S. Army National Guard. In 1972 he married Wanda Lanier and the two made their home in the Brooklet area. WD worked as a plumber for over 45 years being employed with HA Sack Company, Y-Delta, Inc. and Georgia Southern University.
WD enjoyed, deer hunting, fishing, NASCAR, and making his own ammo.
His special great niece, Finley Price, could always put a smile on his face and was his fishing, gardening and race track partner.
WD loved his family more than they will ever know.
He attended Trinity Baptist Church in Nevils.
Preceding him in death were his parents, John Vickery and Alberta Stewart Williams; his step father, Crawford Williams; brother, Johnny Vickery, Mother-in-law Cathlyn Jenkins Miles, father-in-law, Wilber Lanier, step father-in-law, Leamon Miles, brother-in-law, Denton Rouse and his beloved boxers, Rambo, Holly and Tiger.
Surviving are his wife of 52 years, Wanda Lanier Vickery of Brooklet; sisters and brothers-in-law, Teresa and Ronnie Lane, Margie Rouse, Pattie and Jeff Davis; brothers in law and sister-in-law, Billy and Barbara Lanier, and Danny Lanier. 17 nieces and nephews and 27 great nieces and nephews also survive.
The family will receive visitors on Saturday July 13, 2024 at the chapel of Bulloch Memorial Gardens Mausoleum from 10:00am until the funeral hour.
Funeral services will follow the visitation at 11:00am in the mausoleum chapel with Elder Scott Waters officiating. Entombment will be in the mausoleum.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Michael Price, Roger Inman, Jody Rogers, Brandon Lane, Brad Lane, Matthew Mancil, Hampton Harbin and Dave Gentile.
