Tim Marks

Timothy Donald “Tim” Marks, age 69, passed away on October 7, 2022, after a short, but courageous battle with cancer. Tim was born in Montreal, Canada in February of 1953. He spent his childhood moving with his parents throughout North, Central, and South America. Tim moved from Caracas, Venezuela to Moultrie, Georgia where he attended and graduated from Colquitt County High School in 1970.

He attended Georgia Southwestern State University where he met the love of his life and wife of 49 years, Jo Samples Marks. After graduating, he began working at Helena Chemical Company which eventually brought them to Statesboro in 1976, where he enjoyed a rewarding 40 year career.

Tim and Jo prided themselves on building a family and a Christian household. They attended First Baptist Church Statesboro, where he was active in his men’s Sunday school class. He cherished his daughter, Katie and son, Smith and was the true definition of a family man. He was known for his bright smile, his generous heart, and his kind spirit.​​​​

Tim is preceded in death by his parents Donald and Marion Marks. He is survived by his wife, Jo Marks, and his children, Katie Marks Vines and son in law, Jonathan Vines; Smith Marks and daughter in law, Kristin C. Marks. His grandchildren, Pate & Brynn Vines, and Grand Dog, Artie Marks. Brother Terry Marks, and brother and sister in laws: John and Jane Williams, Mark Samples, and Paul and Sandy Samples, along with his many nieces and nephews.

The family will receive visitors on Monday from 5:00pm until 7:00pm at Joiner-Anderson Funeral Home in Statesboro.

The funeral will be held on Tuesday at 1:00pm at First Baptist Church Statesboro with Dr. John Waters officiating.

Interment will follow at Eastside Cemetery in Statesboro.
