SSG Leonard Lundy

Staff Sergeant (Retired) Leonard Lundy “Lundy”, passed away on Saturday, August 03, 2024, at Memorial Helath University Medical Center in Savannah, Georgia with his loving daughters at his bedside.

"Lundy" cherished every moment spent with his loved ones, his friends' company, and his grandchildren's love. He was always energetic and enthusiastic, a devoted sports fan and enthusiast, and a loyal Los Angeles Lakers and Dallas Cowboys fan.

Lundy was born in Griffin, Georgia to the late Corine Hall and was the eldest of two sons.

He graduated in 1966 from Pompano Beach High School in Pompano Beach, Florida, and enlisted in the United States Army, proudly serving for over twenty years. During his Army career, Leonard was awarded a Bronze Star with Valor, a Purple Heart, six Army Commendation Medals, an Army Achievement Ribbon, six Army Good Conduct Medals, a National Defense Service Medal, an NCO Professional Development Ribbon, an Army Service Ribbon, two Overseas Service Bars, Vietnam Gallantry Cross, and four Vietnam Campaign Bars. Leonard retired from the Army in October 1984, his second career began at Brown’s Nursing Home in Statesboro, Georgia where after twenty years of being a dedicated and caring Personal Care Assistant. He then fully retired to enjoy a life of leasure.

He leaves behind his children, Lisha Linnear of Rex, GA, Sabrina (David) Davis of Statesboro, GA, Yvette (Benjamin) Whitehead of Charleston, SC, Rosalind (Ed) Stewart of Phenix City, AL, Latonya (Corey)Smith of Holly Springs, GA and David Lundy of Statesboro, GA; thirty grandchildren, fifty-two great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.

"Lundy" was loyal, patient, and kind. Most of all he was a dedicated family man, and he spent most of his free time being a loving father and grandfather to his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He is fondly and lovingly known in and around Bryan and Bulloch County, he made friends everywhere he went.

A viewing for Mr. Lundy, will be held Friday, August 9, 2024, from 4 P.M. to 7 P.M., at the funeral home.

The funeral service for Mr. Lenorad Lundy, will be held at 1 P.M., Saturday, August 10, 2024 at the Ben Samuel Hill Memorial Chapel of Hill's Mortuary, Inc. Burial will follow in the Eastside Cemetery.

Final rites have been entrusted to Hill's Mortuary, Inc.
