May 15, 1956 - May 15, 2023 - Mrs. Rita Faye Lewis, 67, passed at Memorial Health University Medical Center on September 16, 2023, surrounded by her family.

Rita was born to Rudolph and Luree Waters McMillan in the family homeplace. She attended Screven County Schools and wed the love of her life, Randy, right out of high school. She would accompany him on his 22 years in the United States Airforce, where they were stationed from Nellis Airfoce Base to The Azures of Portugal. While stationed, she employed in the food service industry as a waitress. They returned to the southeast and resided in Jenkins County to be closer to family and attended McBride Church. She enjoyed gardening, flowers, and her daily cup of coffee on the patio, watching the butterflies and hummingbirds. She loved shopping with her sisters and accompanying her daughter on nurse travels in the northeast. She was preceded in death by her parents, a mother-in-law, Lena Lewis; and siblings, Betty Jean Cannon Newton, Herman McMillan, Gerald McMillan, Roger “Duck” McMillan, Hubert McMillan, and William “Bub” McMillan.

She is survived by her beloved husband of 50 years, Edwin Randall “Randy” Lewis, daughter, Micki Alyson Lewis, both of Millen, grandchildren, Matthew G. Lovegrove and Caitlin S. Lovegrove and her fiancé, Rafael Lopez; a great grandson, Milo Lovegrove; all of Rockingham, VA; sisters, Carolyn Potter and Irene M. Sutton; brother and sister-in-law, James and Sharon McMillan, all of Sylvania; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Sunday evening at the Joiner Anderson Funeral Home Screven Chapel from 6:00pm to 8:00pm.

Services will be held on Monday, September 18, at 3:00pm in the Screven Chapel of Joiner Anderson Funeral Home with Rev. Kevin Rountree officiating.

Interment will follow in the Millen City Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Matt Lovegrove, Milo Lovegrove, Robin Potter, Billy McMillan, David Cannon, Chuck Cannon, Jamie Phillips, and Zachary Thompson.
