Mr. Michael Marquez Griner, age 39, of Baxley, GA., passed away Tuesday, October 18, 2022, at the Augusta University Medical Center after a brief illness. “Big Mike” as he was affectionately known by many was a lifelong resident and Appling County native and a 2001 graduate of the Appling County Comprehensive High School. After graduating from High School, Michael enlisted into the United States Marine Corps where he honorably served his Country for 8 years earning the rank of (E-4) Corporal. He was honorably discharged from the U.S. Marine Corps on December 14, 2009. After being honorably discharged, he earned his license to practice as a licensed electrician. He worked as a union member and was a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers.
Michael is survived by his daughter, Mackenzie Griner of Lacombe, LA; his mother, Gladys Goethia and his father, Henry Goethia, one sister, Lawanza Griner, one brother, Willie Johnson and a niece, Tanijah Griner all of Baxley, GA. He is also survived by a host of Uncles, Aunts, Cousins, other relatives and friends.
