Lynette Meeks Rigdon

Lynette Meeks Rigdon, wife of Bobby Ray Rigdon, passed away on Wednesday, September 11, 2024.

Lynette was born in Candler County and was the daughter of Ray Meeks and Catherine Crooms Meeks. 

She was a 1963 graduate of Metter High School.  That same year she married Bobby Ray Rigdon.  The two of them were married for over sixty-one years. 

Lynette was a charter member of Cedar Street Baptist Church where she and her husband, Bobby served the Lord faithfully and attended the Lighthouse Sunday School Class. 

Lynette was a Teacher’s Assistant and School Bus Driver for the Candler County School System for over thirty years.  She loved shopping and was always looking out for a sale.  She and Bobby enjoyed listening to gospel music and would often travel to see their favorite gospel groups perform.  She was a great cook and if you wanted a place at the table for Sunday lunch, the only requirement was that you had to attend church that day.  She was known for her chicken and dumplings, pot roast, and mustard greens.  She was preceded in death by her parents.

Surviving are her children, Vickie Rigdon Aldrich and her husband, Chris, Steven Rigdon and his wife, Tina, Benji Rigdon and his wife, Dondra, and Nicole Davis and her husband, Kevin, all of Metter; her sister, Linda Meeks Hamm and her husband, Dan; her brother, Buddy Meeks and his wife, Fran; grandchildren, Jamie Murdock and his wife, Jenna, Ramsey Rigdon Waters and her husband, Loy, Railey Rigdon Scott and her husband, Kenton, Thomas Aldrich, Leah Rigdon, Ben Rigdon, Meeks Davis, and Lex Davis; great-grandchildren, Lula Murdock, Kennedy Waters, Kinsley Rigdon; several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held Saturday, September 14, 2024, from 4 until 7 o’clock in the evening at Cedar Street Baptist Church.

The funeral service will be held Sunday, September 15, 2024, at 3 o’clock in the afternoon at Cedar Street Baptist Church.

Interment will follow in Lake Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Jamie Murdock, Thomas Aldrich, Meeks Davis, Lex Davis, Ben Rigdon, Kenton Scott, and Loy Waters.

Honorary Pallbearers will be members of the Lighthouse Sunday School Class.

In Lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Cedar Street Baptist Church.

Kennedy Funeral Homes, Hooks Chapel, of Metter is in charge of the arrangements.
