Luis Angel Vazquez

081314

April 23, 1961 — August 13, 2024

Luis Angel Vazquez, affectionately known as "Papo" by his family, passed away peacefully on August 13, 2024, at his residence under the compassionate care of Ogeechee Area Hospice.

Born on April 23, 1961, in Puerto Rico, Luis was the youngest child of Isabelino Vazquez and Nicolasa Ruiz.

Luis moved to Illinois early in his life, where he built a career as a dedicated truck driver, a profession he held for most of his working years. Outside of work, Luis had a passion for the outdoors, spending his free time fishing, hunting, and riding motorcycles. A true jack of all trades, he could fix or repair anything, and he was equally at home in the kitchen, where he could cook up just about anything imaginable. Luis was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Isabelino and Nicolasa.

He leaves behind a family who cherished him deeply, including his three sisters, Luz Vazquez of Illinois, Carmen Milagro, and Isabel Vazquez, both of Puerto Rico; two brothers, Rafael Vazquez of New York and Benjamin Vazquez of Illinois; numerous nieces and nephews; and a special niece, Betzy Ortiz-Ocasio of Illinois, who was as close to him as a daughter. Additionally, many other relatives and friends, made throughout his life’s journey, will fondly remember him.

The family will receive friends for a time of remembrance on Thursday, August 15, 2024, from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at the chapel of Low Country Cremation & Burial. Memorial services will follow at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel. Services will conclude at the chapel following the service.

Low Country Cremation & Burial is honored to assist the Vazquez family during their time of bereavement.
