Kenneth Edward Griner, 74, passed away February 8, 2023, at his family home in Claxton following a brief illness.

 Mr. Griner was born in Tattnall County on October 18, 1948, to Jim and Dot Griner. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Bill Griner.

 Mr. Griner graduated from Claxton High School and furthered his education at Abraham Baldwin College. He graduated from the University of Georgia with a degree in Business Education and began his teaching career at Swainsboro High School in 1971.  He taught at Swainsboro High School until his retirement. Soon after retirement, he returned to Evans County to live out his years on the family farm.

 Mr. Griner was admired by all his students and was a great friend to all who knew him. He was an active member of Good Shepherd Episcopal Church in Swainsboro where he served on the Mission Council. He also attended Union Church in Claxton, Ga.

 Survivors include his sister, Wanda Griner Pitkin (Bruce Pitkin) of Hilton Head, SC; sister-in-law, Linda Griner of Claxton; Hollie Griner Harper (Jimmy) of Claxton, Ga.; Jamie Griner, of Odum, Ga.; Heather Griner Floyd (Paul) of Guyton, Ga.; Josh Griner of Claxton, Ga. and Matthew Mauney of Brunswick, Ga.; His God sons, Justen Woods of Buford, Ga. Chandler Woods of Savannah, Ga. and Elliott Woods of Macon, Ga. and many nieces and nephews.

 Sunday, February 12 Visitation will be at 1:00 pm and the memorial service will be at 2:00 pm. Burial will be at Beard Creek Cemetery in Tattnall County. Officiating the service will be Jordan Cameron and Wade Williams both former students of Mr. Griner’s.
