Keith Boyett, age 68, passed away on November 20, 2024, at the Ogeechee Area Hospice Inpatient Facility in Statesboro after a three-year battle with cancer.

Keith was born in Statesboro, Georgia, and grew up on the family farm in Metter, where he and his dad raised purebred hogs and grew tobacco to help pay for his college education. After graduating from Metter High School, Keith attended ABAC and the University of Georgia, where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in Agriculture.

While attending UGA, Keith served as Social Chairman, IFC representative, and on numerous other committees in the Alpha Gamma Rho (AGR) Fraternity. He served on the AGR alumni board for many years, and took pride in helping remodel the fraternity house, having an office there named in his honor for his dedication to the fraternity.

Keith moved back to Statesboro after college and began working in the retail clothing business, while continuing to farm “on the side”. He has been the owner/operator of the Sir Shop for over 40 years. He was always very outgoing and loved to be with other people, known for his bright smile and sense of humor.

Keith was a faithful member of Statesboro First Baptist Church and the Robert J. Smith Sunday School class. Keith was very active in the community as a member of the Statesboro Rotary Club, Chamber of Commerce, and the Statesboro Bulldog Club. He served as past president of the Statesboro Jaycees and was later a member of the Optimist Club. He was an honorary member of the Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity at Georgia Southern University, and served the Southern Greek Housing Corporation as president for many years.

Keith is preceded in death by his parents Kermit and Tiny Boyett, his brother Kenny Boyett, and his nephew Andre Goggins.

He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Elise Wrye Boyett, daughter Candice (Will) Slade of Pooler, son Candler Boyett of Savannah, grandson Everette Slade, and his sister Patty Karr of Metter. He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Gerri Boyett of Waycross, sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Elaine and Chuck Perkins of Macon, and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive visitors on Friday, November 22nd from 5:00pm until 7:00pm at Joiner-Anderson Funeral Home in Statesboro.

The funeral will be held on Saturday, November 23rd at 11:00am at First Baptist Church in Statesboro with Dr. John Waters officiating. The body will lie-in-state one hour prior to the service.

Interment will follow at the Primitive Grove Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery, 15125 Canoochee Road, Cobbtown, GA.

Pallbearers will be Jerry Burkhalter, Allen Hackle, Claude Howard, Chris Johnson, Ricky Lane, Barry Strickland, Stuart Tedders, and Bill Williams.

Honorary pallbearers will be members of Alpha Gamma Rho Fraternity.
