Joel Palmer

Joel Palmer was born on October 13, 1953, in Leesburg, Florida to Ollie Mae Palmer. He grew up in the loving home of his Uncle Leslie and Aunt Annie Mae Palmer. Joel received his formal education in the Lake County School System and played in the High School Band. He furthered his education at Bethune Cookman College in Daytona Beach, FL, concentrating in General Studies.

In October 1975, Joel enlisted in the United States Air Force, where he had a distinguished career as a Staff Sergeant spanning over 15 years. During his service, he earned several accolades, including the Commendation Medal, Air Force Outstanding Unit Award, Air Force Good Conduct Medal, Air Force Overseas Long Tour Ribbon, and Air Force Training Ribbon.

While enlisted, Joel met and married Angela Butler, who also served in the United States Air Force. Together, they had a son, Ahmad. Joel had a passion for fishing, grilling with his favorite hometown “King Barbecue Sauce,” and watching golf. After retiring from the Military at McDill Air Force Base in Tampa, Florida, Joel and Angela returned to Florida and later moved to Georgia in 2019. They lived at the Palmerosa Ranch in Rentz until their passing.

On Tuesday July 10, 2024, Joel Palmer entered into rest in Rentz, GA. He is preceded in death by his wife, Angela Palmer, Mother Ollie Mae Palmer, Uncle Leslie Palmer, and Aunt Annie Mae Palmer.

Joel leaves behind loving memories with his mother-in-law, Mrs. Ada Butler Lloyd; half-brother, Eugene Hosea; stepson, Cedric (Marcia) Harden; stepdaughter, Yuoranda Walker; son, Ahmad R. Palmer; daughter, Sherese Palmer Greene; son, Joel (Jennifer) Palmer Jr.; son, Reginald J. Palmer; grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.

The funeral service for Mr. Joel Palmer, will be held at 11 A.M. Friday, July 20, 2024, at the Bulloch Memorial Gardens Mausoleum Chapel, with Elder Gary Wallace, officiating. Entombment will follow with military honors.

Those who wish to travel with the family to the cemetery, are asked to assemble at the funeral no later than 10:15 A.M on the day of service.

Final rites have been entrusted to Hill's Mortuary, Inc.
