Mr. Jesse Eugene (Lightening) Fletcher, age 91, died on Wednesday, October 16, 2024 at East Georgia Regional Medical Center. The native and lifelong resident of Bulloch County attended Statesboro High School. He was a Veteran of the United States Army. Gene was a farmer for all of his life and worked for the Bulloch County Sheriff’s office for over 10 years. He also worked as a security guard at Grinnell Corporation for over 10 years. He was preceded in death by his parents Jesse G. Fletcher and Claudia Ziegler Fletcher and his brother and sister-in-law Francis N Fletcher and Ruth Helen Fletcher.
Surviving is his niece Elaine (Charles) Fowler of Statesboro; two great nieces Suzanne (Dennis) Snyder of Statesboro and Nicole (Jared) Reece of Augusta, GA; great-great nieces and nephews Alissa Snyder, Tori Synder and Charles Snyder.
A graveside funeral service and burial will be held on Friday at 3:00 p.m. at Eastside Cemetery with Pastor Josiah McDaniel officiating.
The family requests that memorial contributions be made to Fletcher Memorial Baptist Church, 720 N. Main Street, Statesboro, GA 30458.
