Eula Mae Alston

August 12, 1941 - September 12, 2023 - Mrs. Eula Mae Pryor Alston, age 82, entered rest, Thursday, September 14, 2023, at the East Georgia Regional Medical Center.

The native of Jenkins County, Georgia was the daughter of the late Author and Ruthie Mae Wright Pryor.

At an early age she became a member of the Mt. Carmel Baptist Church. Later she became an active member of the Second Saint John Baptist Church until her health began to fail.

She attended William James High School and worked as a certified dietitian and certified nurse’s assistant.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of fifty-two years, Deacon Jimmy Lee Alston, Sr., a grandson, Ky’Moni D. Shipmon, a great grandson, Demetrius Powell; brothers, Author Pryor, Jr. George Pryor and Anthony Pryor and a sister, Bertha Pryor.

She leaves to cherish her memories: her children, Jimmy (Min. LeRushia) Alston, Jr., Evangelist Sharon (Pastor Frank) Bedford, Kenneth (Wanda) Alston, Darren Alston, Jacqelina (James) Brown, all of Statesboro, GA; JoAnn (Rodney) Mitchell, Atlanta GA, Gary Melvin, Ft. Lauderdale, Fla, Sherry Ward, Ferguson, West Palm Beach FL, Debbie Ferguson, Atlanta, GA, Sandra (Terry) Jackson, Minnesota; James (Betty) Stidem, Statesboro. GA; her siblings, James (Bonnie) Pryor, Register, GA, Terry Pryor Statesboro, GA, Helen (Rufus) Fisher, Hillside, NJ, Everlene Shipman, New Jersey, Shelly (Horace) Drake, McDonough, GA, Lilette Pryor, Statesboro, GA, and Yvonne Pryor, Savannah, GA; brothers-in-law, Raymond (Theretha) Alston, Jessie Lee (Amy) Alston, Sr, Pastor Benjamin (Mae) Alston and James (Mushell) Alston; a sister-in-law, Pearl Alston; special cousins, Bobby Jones and Juanita McGee; 28 grandchildren, 43 great grandchildren, 3 great- great grandchildren, a host of other relatives and friends.

A walk-through viewing for Mrs. Alston will be held, 4 pm to 7 pm, Tuesday, September 19, 2023, at the funeral home.

The funeral service for Mrs. Eula Mae Pryor Alston, will be held, at 11 am, Wednesday, September 20, 2023, at the Second Saint John Missionary Baptist Church, with the pastor, Rev. Craig R. Tremble, officiating and the Bishop Larry Jones, presiding. Burial will follow in the Bulloch Memorial Gardens.
