Ms. Alexia Lucas Ellis, age 106, died Sunday November 3, 2024, at Azalea Health and Rehabilitation in Metter. The native and lifelong resident of Bulloch County moved to Metter at the age of 101, to be closer to her family.

Ms. Ellis was employed with Howard Johnson’s and Braswell Foods for many years, before beginning her career with Medical Center Pharmacy, where she worked for 32 years until her retirement. She was a longtime member of Bible Baptist church in Statesboro. Some of her greatest joy came from being with her family, cooking, fishing and quilting.

Ms. Ellis was preceded in death by her husband, Raleigh Ellis; two daughters-in-law, George Ana Ellis and Carolyn Lucas; a son-in-law, Russell Gilbert; a grandson, Bobby Hinton; a great - great grandchild and nine brothers and sisters.

Surviving are two daughters and a son-in-law, Jean Gilbert of New Tazewell, TN and Frances and Robert Cook of Metter; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Jerry Ellis of Brooklet and Carl and Martha Lucas of Statesboro; seven grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; 15 great-great grandchildren and one great-great-great grandchild.

The family will receive visitors on Thursday, November 7, 2024, from 5:00pm until 7:00pm at Joiner-Anderson Funeral Home in Statesboro.

Funeral services will be Friday November 8, 2024, at 2:00pm in the chapel of Joiner-Anderson Funeral Home in Statesboro with Pastor Thomas Hendrix officiating.

Interment will be in Paynes Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery in Jenkins County.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons and great grandsons.
