Donna Rosalind Andrews Pittman, widow of Joseph Wendel Pittman, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 26, 2025, at Candler County Hospital in Metter, Georgia.

Born in Augusta, Georgia, Donna was the cherished daughter of James Ethan Andrews and Emily Pilcher Andrews. During her youth in Augusta, Donna achieved recognition as Miss Augusta in 1961. Her elegance and grace earned her an invitation to a special dinner at the Augusta Golf Club, where she had the remarkable opportunity to meet Elvis Presley and renowned golf professionals of the time.

Donna met her future husband, Joe, in Augusta at Edmund’s Drug Store, where he worked after graduating from the University of Georgia. Their meeting was serendipitous—Donna was there to pick up a prescription for her parents—and it blossomed into a love that led to marriage. Together, they built a beautiful life, living in Claxton and Statesboro before settling in Metter, Georgia, where they have resided since 1966.

In Metter, Donna and Joe became pillars of the community by purchasing and operating Eason Drug Company, which they renamed Pittman Pharmacy and later expanded to include Medical Pharmacy. Donna also embraced her role as a devoted homemaker and was an active, longtime member of Metter First Baptist Church.

A woman of many talents and passions, Donna was a professional rose grower known for her skill in cultivating and arranging stunning Hybrid-T roses. She was also an avid golfer and a proud member of Willow Lake Golf Club, where she enjoyed playing both golf and bridge with friends.

Donna’s legacy is carried on by her two sons and daughters-in-law, Jim and Jill Pittman, and Joey and Pam Pittman; her four grandchildren, Jordan Pittman (Kara) and James Pittman (Mishelle), Roslyn Thompson (Matthew), and Joseph Pittman; her great-grandchildren, Everlee Pittman, Nathan Pittman, and Tatum Gail Thompson; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 28, 2025, at Kennedy Funeral Homes, Hooks Chapel, in Metter. A funeral service to honor Donna’s life will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 29, 2025, at Metter First Baptist Church, with interment to follow at Lake Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Joey Lott, Baxter Funderburke, Sunny Youmans, Jordan Pittman, James Pittman, Joseph Pittman, Billy Patterson, and Matthew Thompson.

Honorary Pallbearers will be members of the Ruth Sunday School Class.
