Deacon Jimmy L. Cross

August 12, 1946 - January 4, 2025

Deacon Jimmy Lee Cross entered rest Saturday, January 4, 2025, at his residence under the care of Affinis Hospice. The Emanuel County native was the son of the late Arthur Lee and Mamie Ethel Brantley Cross.
Deacon Cross received his formal education in the Emanuel County School System and attended Swainsboro Technical College where he majored in engineering.

He was the proud owner of Jimmy’s Fruits and Vegetables and JV Transport Trucking Company for many years.

He was a member of the Optimist Club, Pin Hi Club, NAACP, Boy Scots of America and a member of the Rountree Grove Missionary Baptist Church where he served as a deacon.

Those left to cherish his memories are his loving wife, Verline “Jack” Cross, Twin City, GA; his sons, Nikkulas (Taylor) Cross, Statesboro, GA, Brian L. (Aishadia) Cross, Snellville, GA, Nate Cross, Cori Cross and Elijah Cross, all of Twin City, GA, and Eric (Gladys) Jackson, Montgomery, AL; his daughters, Nancy (Anthony) Bady, Swainsboro, GA, Mariah Cross, and Destiny Cross, both of Twin City, GA; a bonus son, Anthony (Sybil) Bady, Riverdale, GA; a brother, Robert (Joyce) Cross, Twin City, GA; brothers-in-law, Wilken (Annie) Washington, Aaron Washington, Harold ( LaDedria) Washington, Portal, GA; sisters-in-law, Evelyn (Donald) Chavers, Statesboro, GA, Loice Chavers, Portal, GA, Mamie (Randy) Mosley, Millen, GA, a large host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

A viewing will be held for Deacon Cross on Tuesday evening from 6 P.M.to 7 P.M, January 7, 2025, at Hill’s Mortuary, Inc.

The funeral service for Deacon Jimmy Lee Cross, will be held at 11 A.M., Wednesday, January 8, 2025, at the ECI Auditorium 102 N. College Street Twin City, Georgia 30471 with Bishop Anthony Chavers and Donald Chavers, Jr., presiding and the Rev. Enrico Lowe, officiating. Burial will follow in the Bulloch Memorial Gardens.

Final rites have been entrusted to Hill’s Mortuary, Inc.
