Mrs. Daisy Bell Benton Roberts, age 90, entered rest, Friday, April 19, 2024, at the East Georgia Regional Medical Center.

She was born on December 26, 1933, in Sylvania, Georgia and was the eldest child of the late Arthur Benton, Sr. and Lizzie Roberts Benton. She spent her formative years in Sylvania, Georgia where she was surrounded by a loving family and many beloved friends. Her childhood, anchored in faith in God and love for family. She was happy and full of memories with her family and friends.

In the early years of her marriage, she and her late husband, Walter “Tom Williams, Sr. and family, migrated to New York City in search of better economic opportunities. There, Daisy pursued work in New York’s shoe manufacturing industry and worked for Flowers Shoe Factory for several decades until her retirement.

Throughout her life, Daisy played piano and sang at many church functions and choir concerts. However, playing during Sunday worship services at Springhead United Methodist Church on Sundays brought her the most joy. Among her favorite hymns were “Amazing Grace,” “What a Friend We Have in Jesus,” and “How I Got Over.”

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Walter “Tom” Williams Sr., a daughter, Maggie Bell Byrd, a son Walter Williams Jr., a brother, Arthur Benton, and sisters, Dorothy Thomas, and Mabel Atkins.

A viewing for Mrs. Williams will be held on Friday, April 26, 2024, at the funeral home.

The funeral service for Mrs. Daisy Bell Williams, will be held at 11 A.M., Saturday, April 27, 2024, at the Springhead United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Kenneth Griffin, presiding and the pastor, Rev. William Reeves, officiating. The burial will follow in the Friendship Memorial Park Cemetery.

Final rites have been entrusted to Hill's Mortuary, Inc.
