Mr. Clyde Thompson, age 77, died peacefully on January 7, 2025 at Candler Hospital, surrounded by his family. Clyde was born on November 21, 1947. He attended Portal High School where he graduated in 1966. Clyde retired from Brooks Emerson.
Clyde enjoyed anything outdoors from farming to fishing to cutting grass. He enjoyed spending time with family, but his pride and joy were his grand babies. His favorite time of day was when he was picking his grand babies up from school. If you ever met Clyde, he was sure to leave a lasting impression. He was certainly a character.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Luther and Cammie Thompson, a brother, Charles and Geneva Thompson, and a sister, Mary Motes.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Gail Woodcock Thompson, children, Matt Thompson, Gary Thompson (Theresa), Galen Thompson, Michael Thompson, Kevin Thompson (Amber) and Crystal Harrison (Jimmy). Clyde is survived by 11 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by a brother, James Thompson (Joyce), a sister, Gerline Finch and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive visitors on Friday January 10, 2025 from 1:00pm until 2:00pm at Joiner-Anderson Funeral Home in Statesboro. The funeral will be held immediately following in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Patrick McElveen officiating.
Interment will be at Bulloch Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Michael Thompson, Kevin Thompson, Dwight Thompson, Jimmy Harrison, Matt Dylan Thompson, and Buddy Pullam. Galen Thompson will be an honorary pallbearer.
