Mr. Charles Winburn Collins, 83, of Rocky Ford, GA, passed away Friday January 10, 2025, at his residence surrounded by his loving family.
Charles was born on November 2, 1941, in Rocky Ford to Leslie Wallace Collins and Lois Cail Collins.
He had worked for Sylvania Yarn as a lead maintenance technician. Charles served in the National Guard for six years. He was an avid hunter and fisher and a member of the Rocky Ford Baptist Church. Charles also enjoyed watching westerns, especially Gunsmoke and Bonanza, but most of all he loved spending time with his wife and family, especially his three grandkids.
He is preceded in death by his daughter, Renée Collins, his parents, Leslie and Lois Collins, his siblings, Virginia Collins Pullias, Leonard Wallace Collins, Leslie Harrison Collins, Frankin Eugene Collins, Larry James Collins, and Thomas “Tom” Jackson Collins.
He is survived by his loving wife, Wanda Collins, his children, Stephanie (Lloyd) Shurling, of Portal, GA, and Greg (Molly) Collins, of Wilmington Island, GA, three grandchildren, Caleb Collins, Anna Collins, and Brandon Shurling. He is also survived by his brother Kenneth Emanuel (Ann) Collins, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Lloyd Shurling, Rusty Collins, Leslie Collins, Chris Lane, Evan Brower, and Kenneth Brower.
Honorary pallbearers will be Charles’ nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Monday January 13, 2025, at 11:00 AM at the Rocky Ford Baptist Church with Pastor Wayne Bragg officiating.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
Interment will follow in the Rocky Ford Cemetery.
