Bobby Ray Rigdon, of Metter and husband of Lynette Meeks Rigdon, passed away on Wednesday, September 11, 2024.

Bobby was born in Candler County and was a son of Vannie Lee Rigdon, Jr. and Maggie Adaline Boulineau Rigdon.  He was a 1958 graduate of Metter High School and was a veteran of the United States Army.  In 1963, Bobby married the love of his life, Lynette Meeks.

Over his working career, Bobby owned and operated Franklin Hardware and Rigdon and Rigdon Construction.  He built dozens of houses in the Metter area, but his most prized construction project was that of the chapel at Guidos Gardens.

He was a longtime member of Cedar Street Baptist Church where he and his wife Lynette were very active in serving the Lord.  He served as a deacon, sang in the choir, and was active in the Men’s Brotherhood as well as leading RA’s and Awana for the youth.  Bobby and Lynette enjoyed going RVing with a group of their friends from the church.

He was an avid nascar fan in his younger days, loved to fish, and occasionally watched the Braves on TV.   Bobby and Lynette both enjoyed gospel sings and would travel to hear some of their favorite groups perform.  Their love for their family was only surpassed by their love of the Lord.

In addition to his parents, Bobby was preceded in death by his brothers, V.L. Rigdon, Lonnie Rigdon, Eddie Rigdon, and his sister, Martha Ann Rigdon Googe.

Surviving are his children, Vickie Rigdon Aldrich and her husband, Chris, Steven Rigdon and his wife, Tina, Benji Rigdon and his wife, Dondra, and Nicole Davis and her husband, Kevin, all of Metter; his brother, Harold Rigdon of Hinesville; grandchildren, Jamie Murdock and his wife, Jenna, Ramsey Rigdon Waters and her husband, Loy, Railey Rigdon Scott and her husband, Kenton, Thomas Aldrich, Leah Rigdon, Ben Rigdon, Meeks Davis, and Lex Davis; great-grandchildren, Lula Murdock, Kennedy Waters, Kinsley Rigdon; several nieces and nephews.
