Mr. Benjamin F. Colson, 89, peacefully passed away on Wednesday, October 19th, 2024, at Brown’s Health and Rehab while under the care of Regency Southern Care Hospice in Statesboro. Mr. Colson was born in Claxton, Georgia on March 3rd, 1935. He was the owner and operator of Benny’s 76 Service Center in Statesboro, which later became Benny’s BP until his retirement.
Benny cherished moments with his family while spending many enjoyable hours on the porch swing.
Benny was preceded in death by his mother and father, Walter and Maggie Colson, of Claxton. He was also preceded by his brothers, Harry Colson of Savannah and Jimmy Colson of Metter, and his sisters, Gwen Moon and Frieda Driggers of Statesboro, Georgia.
He is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Margaret R. Colson; his son, Darrell (Donna) Colson of Statesboro; his grandson, Chris (Dena) Colson of Statesboro; four great-grandchildren: Devin Smith of Statesboro, Haley Colson of Statesboro, Charlie Colson of Charleston, South Carolina, and Jackson Colson of Statesboro; one great-great-granddaughter, Lily Rushing of Statesboro; many nieces and nephews; and his granddog, Cooper.
A small graveside service will be held at Middleground Primitive Baptist Church in Statesboro, GA on October 19, 2024, at 11:00 AM. Pastor Howard Rushing will be officiating.
The family would like to express their appreciation and gratitude to Brown’s Health and Rehaband Regency Southern Care Hospice for the care they provided to Benny.
