Mrs. Ada Butler Lloyd, age 90, passed peacefully into rest Thursday, October10,2024, at her residence.
The Bulloch County native was the daughter of the late Thomas and Ethel Pierce Coleman.
She received her early childhood education in the Screven County School System. She later attended the Chatham County School System and attended the Swans Technical College in Savannah, where she received a medical degree.
At an early age she became a member of the Bethel Primitive Baptist Church where she served as the director of the youth department for many years. She was a dedicated member of the New Mount Pleasant Primitive Baptist Association, the Bulloch County NAACP, the Charity and Goodwill Lodge, and the Royal Savings Christmas Club. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Stars.
Mrs. Lloyd was a former insurance agent for Afro American Life Insurance Company, one of the oldest black owned insurance companies in the state of Georgia for over thirty-three years.
As a loving and caring citizen of Bulloch County, she demonstrated her love by giving to those in need, whether it was clothing or food, to many who needed a hot meal. She later became a foster parent for over twenty-five years.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husbands, Doris ‘Doy” Butler and Ben Lloyd; her children, Leonard Coleman, Juwone McGlaughlin and Angela Butler Palmer.
She leaves to cherish her memories, her children, Gregory Butler, Rentz, GA, Brenda Mae Lovett, Statesboro, GA, and Latasha (Danny) Small, Raleigh, NC. Seven grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, 3 great-great grandchildren, a special friend, Alex Tankcey, her caregiver, Veronica wright, a host of other relatives and friends.
Family visitation will be held on Thursday, October 17, 2024, from 6 P.M. to 7 P.M. in the Ben Samuel Hill Memorial Chapel of Hill’s Mortuary.
The funeral service for Mrs. Ada M. Butler Lloyd, will be held at 11 A.M., Friday, October 18, 2024, at the Bethel Primitive Baptist Church, with the Elder Gary Wallace, officiating. Burial will follow in the Bulloch Memorial Gardens.
Final rites have been entrusted to Hill's Mortuary, Inc.
