Yellow Jackets sting Atomsmashers 35-13

The Southeast Bulloch Yellow Jackets recovered from their loss last week, beating the Johnson Atomsmashers 35-13. Despite the rain, the boys made some good plays and look to play the Windsor Forest Knights next Friday in Savannah. Yellow Jackets are now 3-1.

The Yellow Jackets took out the Atomsmashers 35-13.

First Quarter: The first quarter saw the Yellow Jackets put up two touchdowns, Jayden Murphy gaining the first and Colby Smith gaining the second. Big plays by the team, they only allowed the atomsmashers to get one touchdown in this quarter, which made them sharpen up for the quarters ahead.

Second Quarter: Southeast Bulloch may have allowed the Johnson Atomsmashers one more touchdown, but they would come back from this half with a vengeance. #13 Easton Phillips was able to catch a long drive from Rhett Morgan during this quarter.

Third Quarter: In the third quarter, Southeast Bulloch (SEB) extended their lead over Johnson with a mix of strong offense and solid defense. Rhett Morgan directed the offense efficiently, handing off to Jayden Murphy, who powered through defenders to reach the 10-yard line, setting up a third-and-two situation. Murphy then pushed inside the five-yard line for a first down, allowing Chase Douglas to score his first career touchdown, bringing the score to 34-13. Thomas Edge added the extra point, making it 35-13.

Fourth Quarter: As the fourth quarter kicked off, Southeast Bulloch led with possession at their 29-yard line. Jayden Murphy got things rolling, breaking multiple tackles to bring SEB up to their 38-yard line, earning a fresh set of downs. Murphy, eyeing a 200-yard game, was sitting at around 150 yards with plenty of time left.

With their lead, SEB focused on running the clock, mixing up handoffs to Murphy, Douglas, and Smith, who delivered a standout 29-yard run.

SEB’s offense took control again after a big interception by Tyrone McGee. From there, they drained the clock, leaning on their ground game to grind out the final minutes. With less than a minute left, SEB got the final first down they needed to let the clock run out.

Final score: SEB 35, Johnson 13. SEB improved to 3-1 on the season and will head to Savannah next week to face Windsor Forest.
