The event was held on Saturday, March 8, at the Market at Visit Statesboro.

Every year, The Humane Society of Statesboro-Bulloch County holds a silent auction to benefit the animals of Bulloch County.

Their largest fundraiser of the year, typically held in early Spring draws support from businesses and community members from all over Bulloch County. For the event community members and businesses donated items and bought sponsorships.

Community members enjoyed drinks and heavy hor d'oeuvres while browsing at the wide array of items up for auction. Among the items for raffle included a generator donated from Lowe's, a wheeled tool chest with tools, several grills, a hot tub and an outdoor fire pit. There were also gift baskets from area businesses, gift certificates, original handmade items, plants and more.

Also in attendance at the auction were some adorable furry friends currently up for adoption.

Margo McCoy, Vice President of the Humane Society said, “We had an amazing turnout for the 20th Annual Silent Auction. We are consistently humbled by the outpouring of support from our local community.”

All of the proceeds benefit rescue and spay/neuter programs in our community. The funds help support essential services such as spaying and neutering, medical care for rescued animals, and community support programs.

“The generosity of the community that attended helped us raise money by bidding on almost every item,” says McCoy. “We also appreciate Tracy Mallary and Shelley Stringer as they worked tirelessly to collect items, create the beautiful baskets and execute the event.”

"We look forward to hosting everyone again next year for our silent action in 2026!"

The Humane Society of Statesboro and Bulloch County's mission is to end the pet overpopulation in our community through adoption, spay and neuter, and education. Our ultimate goal is to make Bulloch County a "no-kill" community.  Our philosophy is that companion animals improve the physical and psychological lives of their humans and that each pet deserves a loving home with adequate food, water, shelter, preventative and veterinary care, and companionship.
