In a startling incident at Awards South in Statesboro on Monday, August 26, 2024, a tire detached from a trailer along Northside Drive and crashed through a window before slamming into a wall near a gondola.

The tire, which was still smoking, caused a loud explosion-like noise, but thankfully, no one was in the affected area at the time.

Awards South Store Owner, Pegi Boatwright, reported the incident, expressing relief that no injuries occurred. Authorities investigated the incident and are working with Awards South regarding the store repair.

"We were blessed that no one was hurt," stated Boatwright. "I was in the front in the showroom with a customer when we suddenly heard a boom. We ran to the area and saw that it was a tire. Thankfully, it missed our cars out front, but we do have some store damage. A lot of our inventory and infrastructure got damaged, but we are working with authorities to manage the repair."
