The Performing Arts Center at Georgia Southern University launched its Winter/Spring Matinee and MainStage Series in February 2025, offering an exciting lineup of performances aimed at inspiring, educating, and entertaining audiences.

The season began with two captivating shows by North Carolina’s touring company, Bright Star Theater.

The PAC’s 2025 Matinee Series began on February 10 with “The Velveteen Rabbit,” a heartwarming adaptation of the classic 1922 children’s book that celebrates love and self-acceptance. The following day, in honor of Black History Month, audiences experienced “Meet Dr. King,” a powerful production that explored the childhood, pastoral journey, and influential leadership of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. during the Civil Rights Movement of the 1960s.

The 2025 Matinee Series has been a remarkable success already, with over 1,000 patrons from school groups, homeschoolers, senior centers, and the general public attending the opening performances.

"With such a diverse audience, it’s great to see productions that cater to all age groups," shared Allyson Lee, PAC Patron Service Manager.

The upcoming shows, “Upcycled Cinderella” on March 26, 2025, and “Jack's Adventure in Space” on March 27, 2025, are perfect for younger audiences, while Rachel Atkins' adaptation of William Wycherley’s “The Country Wife” offers a thought-provoking experience for high school students and older, offering two performances on April 10 and continuing through April 11-12, 2025.

The 2024-2025 season will conclude with the family-friendly adventure “Dragons and Mythical Beasts” on April 14, 2025, featuring an exciting night filled with life-sized dragons, trolls, fairies, and more. Audiences will experience the magic and join the cast in slaying the dragon. The PAC’s commitment to making the arts accessible to students, seniors, homeschoolers, and families underscores its role as a cultural hub for the Tri-County area—a truly fantastic initiative.

The PAC is becoming a go-to destination for all kinds of entertainment, ensuring there is something for everyone. Whether you're planning a family outing, a special occasion or a memorable date night, the PAC has something for everyone.

“I care deeply about this community, you can put your worries on hold and take in the magic of entertainment," Lee said.

Daniel Brown, Director of the PAC, said that in addition to these performances, they will be hosting several Gretsch School of Music events, a production with the Georgia Southern Theater Department, and various other campus like events in the spring.

“We welcome the opportunity to have each of you join us. Please say hello, we always look forward to meeting the community. See you at the show!" Brown added.
