On Saturday night May 20th, The Hushpuppies Band set the stage on fire for a great cause.
The concert took place at the Averitt Arts Center at 7:30pm. The band performed a medley of its popular repertoire from over the years, while attendees filled the aisles with true Saturday night fever.
The event was done in support of Statesboro AMBUCS and the Therapy SPOT to help purchase Amtryke adaptive bikes for local, mobility-challenged children.
Southeast Bulloch High School Junior, Audrey Thomas, was at the helm of the event, as she organized the benefit concert out of the charity of her heart.

The concert began with Audrey standing alongside a few Therapy SPOT parents who gave their intimate success stories regarding how AMBUCS has completely changed their lives.
Therapy SPOT Patient, "Little Thomas", even graced the audience by displaying his new Amtryke bike riding skills. HIs dad steered his Amtryke, while his mom narrated his AMBUCS story to the audience.
Additionally, another Therapy SPOT mother spoke on how her "Little Benjamin" recently rode his Amtryke bike alongside a young neighborhood girl. In that one moment, Benjamin created childhood memories that will last him a lifetime. Benjamin's motther was unexpectedly moved to tears as she reminisced on this dream of hers finally coming true for her Benjamin.
Now, regarding the success of the benefit concert event, Savannah AMBUCS president Kevin Sheehan, had these thoughts to share:
“I am most proud of the fact that we have a 16-year-old high school student putting this benefit concert together to change the lives of several children and adults in the Statesboro area. It is going to be a great night with great music! And we thank everyone for coming out and supporting.”
