Statesboro’s Brad Sheffield is now Chairman of Leadership GBA Board of Directors

Originally from Screven, Sheffield is director of consumer credit mobility and strategy execution at Synovus Statesboro, where he has worked for more than 20 years.

Brad Sheffield, director of consumer credit mobility and strategy execution at Synovus Bank in Statesboro, has been elected by his peers in the state as chair of the Leadership GBA Board of Directors.

Leadership GBA supports the advancement of career bankers by providing leadership development training, serving as a forum through which career bankers can network and exchange ideas and promoting industry advocacy activities at the local, state and federal levels.

We eagerly anticipate the insights, wisdom, and experience he'll bring to the role,” said GBA Chairman Brad Barber, president and CEO of First National Bank, Bainbridge.

Originally from Screven but now residing in Statesboro, Sheffield has worked for Synovus Bank for more than 20 years. Since beginning his career as a part-time teller in 2003, he has held roles as a teller, relationship banker; operations, treasury management, merchant services, compliance/BSA officer, commercial banker, retail market manager, South Georgia/Northeast Florida regional retail sales manager and director of small business initiatives in the strategy office before the role as director of consumer credit mobility and strategy execution.

Sheffield graduated from Georgia Southern University with a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering technology in 2001 and an MBA in 2003. He graduated from GBA’s Georgia Banking School in 2008. He is also a graduate of the Leadership Bulloch Class of 2012, Georgia Southern University’s inaugural 40 under 40 Class of 2014 and the Leadership Georgia Class of 2019.

He also received the 2014 Jimmy Yancey External Customer Covenant Award and was named to the Statesboro Herald’s 20 under 40 Class of 2017. He is entering his third year in the Stonier Graduate School of Banking at the University of Pennsylvania.
