Statesboro STEAM College, Careers, Arts and Technology Academy is thrilled to announce the successful closure of its bond to finance the construction of a new facility, with plans to open its doors in 2026.

During their July 16, 2024 meeting, the Bulloch County Commissioners approved the STEAM school funding. At the meeting, the commissioners approved revenue bonds by the Bulloch County Development Authority. These funds, not to exceed $13 million, will cover the costs of constructing a new STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math) school at the intersection of East Main Street and Veterans Memorial Parkway.

Attorney Steve Rushing, representing the Development Authority, emphasized that these bonds will not be an obligation of the county or city but will be repaid solely from the school’s revenue sources, including tuition and state education funds.

“This project will fund the construction of a 35,000 square foot school building featuring an open-air collaborative design in a modular environment,” Rushing explained. The construction is expected to take about two years before welcoming its first students.

In a message to the community, the school expressed gratitude for the support that has made this milestone possible, marking a significant step forward in enhancing educational opportunities for students.

The new facility will provide state-of-the-art resources and space to foster innovative learning in science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics (STEAM).

As the academy embarks on this exciting journey, it remains committed to engaging with families and stakeholders throughout the process, ensuring that the new space meets the needs of its diverse student body.

Further updates and details will be shared as the project progresses, with the school looking forward to the positive impact the new facility will have on the community and future generations of learners.
