There is still time to sign up for the 2024 Summer Character Camp through the Roosevelt Cone Jr. Scholarship Foundation. Kids 8 years old and up can enjoy field trips, games and more from June 3, 2024 until July 26, 2024. The Camp fee is $100 per week with a $25 registration fee and will run from 8am until 5pm, Monday to Friday at Roosevelt's Character Development Center on N. Main Street.

The founders of the scholarship and Character Development Center, Roosevelt Cone Jr. and Shelby Cone, are dedicated to improving the lives of children in our community by providing the support that they need to become successful individuals. As Mr. Roosevelt likes to say, “All they need is time.”

With the help of the founders’ other companies, R&S Packing and Moving and Statesboro Sports and Memorabilia, and the dedication of community members and local organizations, children have a safe place at the Character Development Center, to go after school and during summer break.

This summer, the kids will get the chance to learn about the six pillars of character: trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, fairness, caring, and citizenship; all while participating in fun activities and hearing from inspiring local guest speakers.

You can contribute to the Character Development Center by supporting fundraisers like the monthly hot dog sale or the Lazy Goat Sports Card Show, which is coming up on May 18, 2024 at the Holiday Inn. Your $5 advanced ticket/$8 admission fee will be used to benefit the scholarship fund. Baseball cards and autographs will be on sale, and vendors will have more items to shop from.
