Shooter in second Bobby Donaldson Avenue aggravated assault arrested in Butts County

A suspect in the November 17 shooting on Bobby Donaldson Avenue has been arrested. The 18 year old was taken into custody on November 20 during a routine traffic stop in Butts County and has been extradited to Bulloch County to face charges. This is the second shooting in less than a month in the same area.

The suspect in a second aggravated assault on Bobby Donaldson Avenue has been apprehended. Authorities confirmed that Jermon Dickerson (18), wanted in connection with a shooting on November 17, was arrested during a traffic stop on November 20, 2024 by the Butts County Sheriff’s Office in Jackson, Ga.

Deputies conducting a routine traffic stop identified Dickerson as a passenger in the vehicle and discovered an active warrant for his arrest. He was taken into custody without incident and has since been extradited back to Bulloch County to face charges.

As first reported by Grice Connect, at approximately 8:07 p.m. on the evening of November 17, Bulloch County 911 dispatched both the Statesboro Police Department (SPD) and Bulloch County EMS to the area of Bobby Donaldson Avenue and Martin Luther King Jr. Drive after a gunshot detection alert was triggered by Flock’s Raven sensors. In addition, a third-party caller reported a male had been shot at the same location.

Upon arrival, officers found a 63 year old man on his lying on the side of the road with multiple gunshot wounds. Investigators believe the shooting resulted from a personal dispute between the victim and Dickerson. The victim was transported by Bulloch County EMS to East Georgia Regional Medical Center (EGRMC) for initial treatment, before being transferred to Memorial Medical Center in Savannah. His injuries are serious, but he is expected to recover.

The shooting on Bobby Donaldson Avenue prompted an extensive investigation by the Statesboro Police Department. Additional details of the incident have not been released.

Second shooting in same area this year

Akeino Dickerson (41), the individual wanted for an October 23, 2024 shooting on Bobby Donaldson Avenue in Statesboro, surrendered himself to the Screven County Sheriff’s Office on October 27. Dickerson was transported back to the Bulloch County Jail where he is currently housed awaiting further judicial action.  It is not known at this time if or how Jermon Dickerson and Akeino Dickerson are related.

Akeino Dickerson was charged with Aggravated Assault, Possession of a Firearm during the Commission of a Crime, Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon, and Possession of Cocaine.

On October 23, 2024 at 8:50pm, Statesboro Police Department officers responded to the area of Bobby Donaldson Avenue in Statesboro for a female who had been shot. Officers located the 24-year-old female victim and rendered aid until she could be transported by EMS to East Georgia Regional Medical Center.

The victim was later flown to Memorial Medical Center in Savannah, where she was treated and released. Detectives responded and determined that the female had been shot by her former boyfriend, Akeino Dickerson (41, Statesboro).

A search warrant was served at Dickerson’s residence in the area by SPD’s SWAT Team, and vital evidence was recovered by detectives in the subsequent search. Dickerson was not found at that location at the time.
