The Savannah Music Festival and Plant Riverside District will continue the popular Savannah Music Festival/District Live Series this fall with special live performances featuring acclaimed gospel-soul artists The Sensational Barnes Brothers and high-energy bluegrass group Town Mountain with local favorites Swamptooth. All performances will take place at District Live, Plant Riverside District’s state-of-the-art performance venue, located at 400 W. River St. in Savannah, Ga.
The Savannah Music Festival/District Live Series is an ongoing partnership between the Savannah Music Festival and Plant Riverside District that is designed to expand year-round live music options for Savannah-area residents and visitors.
“We’re thrilled to continue our partnership with Plant Riverside District and to keep the music playing throughout the year, bringing incredibly talented singers, songwriters and musicians to District Live,” said Savannah Music Festival Executive Director Gene Dobbs Bradford. “This fall, we’re delighted to present exceptional live performances by The Sensational Barnes Brothers and Town Mountain that are guaranteed to have attendees out of their seats and dancing.”

The Sensational Barnes Brothers offer a musical blend of old and new and are a true gem in the contemporary gospel/soul scene. As PopMatters observes, “The brothers run through a spectrum of moods and modes in their gospel soul, often bridging the gap between, say, the Soul Stirrers and Stax, all the while keeping a local flavor.” The brothers dive deep into their roots, creating a vintage-inspired sound that draws in a modern-day audience.

Raw and soulful, Town Mountain has earned raves for their hard-driving sound, impressive songwriting and a honky-tonk edge that defines their exhilarating live performances. The hearty base of Town Mountain’s music is bluegrass spiced with country, old-school rock ‘n’ roll and boogie-woogie. Hailing from Asheville, N.C., Town Mountain’s high-energy sound reflects the group’s wide-ranging influences, including the Grateful Dead, Willie Nelson, Waylon Jennings and Merle Haggard. Swamptooth, an energetic Savannah bluegrass band, will kick off the evening, featuring longtime picking partners Cory Chambers (mandolin, vocals) and Jay Rudd (guitar, vocals), along with fiddle virtuoso Vito Gutilla (fiddle, vocals) and Katie Rudd (bass).
