In mid-February, Georgia DOT begins repairs to the Chatham Parkway overpass at I-16. This project should be complete and open to traffic in the summer of 2025, weather permitting.

Project goals include replacing the beams damaged in last summer’s bridge strike incident, pouring a new deck and repairing all barrier walls. Georgia DOT anticipates three traffic shifts in the coming months as work progresses with all lanes open to traffic above I-16 in July 2025.

The final project phase is bridge jacking to meet the new interstate widening grade below this overpass, as well as slab replacements. Georgia DOT expects the contractor to perform this in June, which will require an extended detour period.
