Rep. Butch Parrish has been selected as one of 20 Georgia Trailblazers in cancer care by the Georgia Center for Oncology Research and Education (CORE).
“Rep. Parrish, as a pharmacist and as a legislator, has been an advocate for exceptional cancer care for the people of Georgia,” said Georgia CORE president and CEO Lynn Durham. “His efforts have directly impacted advances our physicians and researchers are making to enhance prevention, screening, and treatment of cancer.”
Georgia CORE is celebrating its 20th anniversary, and with this milestone the nonprofit is honoring members of Georgia’s oncology community, state leaders, scientists and philanthropists for their part in creating the collaborative system of cancer care we have in Georgia.
“I am honored to be recognized by CORE, a trailblazing organization itself. So many Georgians have benefited from the research, education, and commitment to early detection of cancer,” said Parrish.
Parrish was recognized at Georgia CORE’s 20th anniversary gala on Feb. 18 in Atlanta.
More than 300 guests attended the event. All proceeds from the event are going to Georgia's new Fight Cancer License Plate Fund, which will provide free cancer screenings for some of the state's deadliest cancers to under-resourced Georgians.
