Grice Connect is compiling a daily list of individuals who have qualified to run for the District 1 seat on the Statesboro City Council in this November's special election.
At their August 6, 2024 meeting, the Statesboro City Council approved a resolution calling for the Special Election to fill the unexpired term of the vacant District 1 council seat, previously held by Phil Boyum.
Below is the list of citizens who have qualified to run as reported at the end of the day today, August 20, 2024.

Qualifying for this seat opened this morning at 8:30am and continues until 4:30pm on Thursday, August 22, 2024.
Candidates who wish to qualify for the office of District 1 City Councilmember must file their notice of candidacy with the Election Superintendent for Qualifying at Statesboro City Hall during the dates of Tuesday, August 20th through Thursday, August 22nd from 8:30am to 4:30pm. The qualifying fee is $330.

The last day to register to vote in the election is Monday, October 7th.
