The start time for the Portal High School varsity football road game at Wilkinson County on Friday, September 22, has been moved to 6:00pm. Please see the statement below from Wilkinson County administration as it pertains to the time change.
"In an effort to ensure the safety and wellbeing of all students, staff, community and visiting patrons, the Wilkinson County School District has decided to host all home football games beginning at 6:00pm for the 2023 football season. We understand that this time is a bit unconventional. However, our commitment to creating and maintaining a safe environment is paramount for all stakeholders. Therefore, we have implemented a clear bag policy and all patrons will have to clear a metal detector. We appreciate everyone's support with these new initiatives, and we look forward to a night of healthy competition between our teams."
The Portal football team, marching band, and cheerleading squad will now have earlier departure times to Irwinton. Staff will communicate the specifics about that very soon.
The admission gates will open at 5:00pm, and admission will be $7 (cash only).
