PHOTO GALLERY: SkynFolks brings "Saturday Night Special" to the Boro supporting the Blue Knights

The Blue Knights brought SkynFolks to town on Saturday night as a fundraiser for the organization. The capacity crowd walked down memory lane with the Lynryd Skynyrd tribute band.

It was indeed a "Saturday Night Special" in more ways than one on Saturday night, August 26th in Statesboro at the Averitt's Emma Kelly Theater.  The Statesboro chapter of the Blue Knights International Law Enforcement Motorcycle Club brought SkynFolks, a Lynard Skynyrd tribute band to town as a fundraiser for the non-profit.

Lt. Bobby Durden with the Bulloch County Sheriff's office services as the Statesboro Chapter President was thrilled with the success of the event.

"We have a capacity crowd of friends of law enforcement who have come out to support us and enjoy the music of this incredible band," said Lt. Durden.  "We want to thank all of the sponsors and friends who supported this fundraising concert.  The funds we raise tonight will support the wonderful mission of the Blue Knights organization in our community.  If you had a great time tonight, mark your calendar for next year, we are working with SkynFolks to make this annual event."

Lt. Durden also thanked the Averitt Center staff for working with them to host SkynFolks.

Blue Knights International Law Enforcement Morotcycle Club is a non-profit organization consisting of active and retired law enforcement officers who enjoy riding motorcycles.

SkynFolks

SkynFolks was formed as a result of some very devoted musicians who wanted to bring a little more to the game than what they’d seen of Lynyrd Skynyrd tribute bands. They also knew how discriminating and tough real Skynyrd fans can be, so they set their performance bar high...really high.

The members of SkynFolks are seasoned professional musicians who have played with national acts like Leon Russell, the Allman Brothers Band, KISS, Collective Soul, and many others. However, from the very beginning, every member of SkynFolks knew that this was something different from anything they’d done before.

Brought together by luck, fate, devotion and drive, the members of SkynFolks pledged to create a band that would exactly reproduce the music of Lynyrd Skynyrd. No improvisation allowed -- every part had to be played exactly like the original recordings. Constant practice honed the music like a razor. What emerged when they finished has never been done since the days of the original Skynyrd lineup: totally authentic, accurate renditions of the music on the first 5 Lynyrd Skynyrd albums.
