OTC students receive Practical Nursing pins in biannual ceremony

Twenty three students from Ogeechee Technical College's Practical Nursing program marked their completion and entry into the profession during a pinning ceremony at the Joseph E. Kennedy Auditorium. They were honored by their instructors and celebrated for their dedication and readiness to serve in healthcare.

Twenty three students in the Practical Nursing program at Ogeechee Technical College received their pins in a biannual pinning ceremony held at 4:00 pm on July 30, 2024 in the Joseph E. Kennedy Auditorium.

During the ceremony, instructors Jackie Howard, Felicia Barefoot, Haley Hendrix, Kathryn Cowart, and Laurie Jones presented the students with their pins signifying the completion of their education and official initiation into the profession.

"I'm incredibly proud of our graduates and what they've achieved in such a short time," said Angel Shuman, Practical Nursing Program Director. "As we celebrate this year's pinning ceremony, we’re not just recognizing their hard work but also their readiness to meet the urgent healthcare needs of our communities."

“Many of our graduates are ready to jump straight into their careers, while others are gearing up to enter our ASN program,” said Shuman. “It’s reassuring to know that the nurses entering our healthcare system are not only well-trained, but are excellent people.”
