New Covenant Church is excited to announce the official groundbreaking ceremony for the start of a new chapter in the church’s history and its continued commitment to the local community. The celebration will be held on site at 701 Gentilly Rd. in Statesboro on December 1, 2024, at 4:00 pm.

This exciting development is a significant milestone for both the congregation and the community. The church's new facility is designed to meet the growing needs of its congregation, with a focus on expanding children's and youth spaces while also addressing a dramatic shortage of childcare services in Statesboro and Bulloch County. The new building will provide space for educational programs, childcare services, and job opportunities, furthering the church’s mission to transform lives through an encounter with Jesus.

The groundbreaking event will bring together the church leadership, community partners, dignitaries, donors, and volunteers. It will be a time to honor those who have made this vision possible and to give thanks for the generous support of all who have helped bring this project to fruition.

The ceremony will be led by church leaders and  include opening remarks and acknowledgments  to recognize key contributors to the project. The service will include a scripture reading by Pastor David McLendon, as well as remarks on the significance of the project and its impact on the church and community. Children will also participate in the groundbreaking ceremony, helping to “turn the first dirt” as a symbol of the generations to come.

Following the groundbreaking, there will be  a brief time of acoustic worship, and a prayer team will offer a blessing for the land and the project, asking for God’s guidance and protection as construction moves forward.

“We are so excited for this new chapter in the life of New Covenant Church,” said Pastor David. “This project is not just about a building; it’s about creating space for new opportunities in ministry, childcare, and community involvement. We believe that this new facility will have a lasting impact, allowing us to serve and grow as a congregation and as a community.”
