Megan Wright, Miss Georgia Southern University, named Miss Georgia 2024 top 5 finalist

Georgia Southern University's Megan Wright was named Fourth Runner-Up in the 79th Annual Miss Georgia Scholarship Competition held in Columbus, Georgia on Saturday, June 15, 2024. Four other Statesboro-area participants received honors at the pageant as well.

Congratulations to Megan Wright, Miss Georgia Southern University, who was named Fourth Runner-Up in the 79th Annual Miss Georgia Scholarship Competition held in Columbus, Georgia. She showcased her Community Service Initiative "Stop the Bleed: Advocating for Severe Trauma Training" and delivered a captivating Broadway vocal performance during the event.

Congratulations to all of the other participants, and a special congratulations to those with Statesboro-area connections who placed or received awards at Miss Georgia 2024.

Among the Miss Georgia 2024 semi-finalists was Miss Tifton, Emma Waters (22), from Mendes, Georgia. She attend Georgia Southern University and earned a $500 scholarship.

Miss Coastal Empire, Kalli Harsha, from Statesboro, Georgia, won a non-finalist interview award and Miss Empire of the South, Chyann Hoyle, also from Statesboro, Georgia won a non-finalist talent award

Miss Rome, Ludwidg Luizaire, from Atlanta was named Miss Georgia 2024.

Miss Southeast Georgia’s Teen, Mollie Lane, from Claxton, Georgia, was named Miss Teen 2024 Fourth Runner-Up. She attends Claxton High School and is 18 years old. Her Community Service Initiative is Give Blood; Give Life. She performed a magic routine.

The 79th Annual Miss Georgia Scholarship and the Miss Georgia’s Teen Competitions were held in the Bill Heard Theater of the RiverCenter for the Performing Arts in Historic Columbus, Georgia, June 12-15, 2024.

Ninety-six delegates competed for the titles of Miss Georgia 2024 and Miss Georgia’s Teen 2024. They represented cities, counties, regions, colleges, universities and festivals from across the state.

They were competing for educational scholarships and the opportunity to represent the state in the Miss America and Miss America’s Teen Competitions. Over $300,000 in scholarship funds were awarded this week.

Competition results:

Miss Georgia 2024

Miss Georgia 2024 ($25,000 Scholarship)- Miss Rome, Ludwidg Louizaire, from Atlanta, GA.  She is a graduate of Hampton University and is 26 years old.  Her Community Service Initiative is Education for Everyone.  She performed a contemporary vocal.

First Runner-Up ($6,500 Scholarship) - Miss Fayette County, Taylor Burrell, from Tyrone, GA.  She attends the University of West Georgia and is 25 years old.  Her Community Service Initiative is The L.I.N.K Initiative.  She performed a contemporary vocal.

Second Runner-Up ($3,000 Scholarship - Miss Greater Atlanta, Aleksandra Arwood, from Thomasville, GA. She attends University of Georgia and is 21 years old.  Her Community Service Initiative is Lonely Like You.  She performed a jazz dance.

Third Runner-Up ($2,000 Scholarship) - Miss Cobb County, Audrey Kittila, from Milton, GA.  She attends the University of Georgia and is 21 years old. Her Community Service Initiative is Education for All.  She performed a violin selection.

Fourth Runner-Up ($1,000 Scholarship) - Miss Georgia Southern University, Megan Wright, from Calhoun, GA.  She attends Georgia Southern University and is 21 years old.  Her Community Service Initiative is Stop the Bleed: Advocating for Severe Trauma Training.  She performed a Broadway vocal.

Remaining Ten Semi-Finalists ($500 Scholarship) 

 

  • Miss Atlanta - Aaliyah Phillips, from Sharpsburg, GA. She is a graduate of Columbus State University and is 22 years old.
  • Miss Irish Capital - Emily Emmons, from Grayson, GA. She attends Georgia Gwinnett College and is 22 years old.
  • Miss Albany - Zaria Davis, from Albany, GA. She attends Albany State University and is 23 years old.
  • Miss International City - Hannah Patterson, from Warner Robins, GA. She has an associate degree in cosmetology and is 21 years old.
  • Miss Southwest Georgia - Anna Kate Robinson, from Wrightsville, GA. She attends the University of Georgia.
  • Miss Spirit of Georgia - Tatenda Rameau, from Fayetteville, GA. She attends Wellesley College and is 26 years old.
  • Miss Middle West Georgia - Morgan Harrell, from Columbus, GA.  She is a graduate of Kennesaw State University and is 27 years old.
  • Miss Tifton - Emma Waters, from Mendes, GA. She attends Georgia Southern University and is 22 years old.
  • Miss Crossroads of the South - Lindsay Jones, Lindsay Jones, from Woodstock, GA.  She holds a MBA from Salsbury University and is 24 years old.
  • Miss Columbus - A'Leah Burrell, from Tyrone, GA.  She attends Columbia Southern University and is 27 years old.

Non-Finalist Interview Award ($250 Scholarship)

  • Miss Capital City, Julia DeSerio, from Austell, GA.  She attends Gardner-Webb University and is 27 years old.
  • Miss Coastal Empire, Kalli Harsha, from Statesboro, GA. She is a graduate of Georgia Southern University and is 25 years old.
  • Miss Gwinnett County, Adesuwa Eaioghae, from Houston, Texas.  She is a graduate from the University of Texas and is 24 years old.

Frances Frazier Non-Finalist Talent Awards ( $250 Scholarship)

  • Miss Empire of the South, Chyann Hoyle, from Statesboro, GA.  She is a graduate of the University of Georgia and is 24 years old.  She performed a vocal and guitar performance.
  • Miss Magnolia, Caroline Blanks, from Lagrange, GA.  She attends the University of Georgia School of Law and is 23 years old.  She performed a lyrical dance.
  • Miss South Atlanta, Aryn Wright-Thompson, from Sanford, NC.  She attends Spellman College and is 20 years old.  She performed a tap dance. 

Miss Georgia Producers Award ($100 Scholarship)

  •  Miss University of Georgia, Carson Bridges, from Carnesville, GA.  She attends the University of Georgia and is 22 years old.

Winston Whitlow Music Award ($500 Scholarship)

  • Miss Greater Columbus, Jessica Roberts, from Columbus, GA. She attends Wesleyan College for Women is 21 years old.

Miss Georgia’s Teen 2024

Miss Georgia’s Teen 2024 ($7500 Scholarship) - Miss Cobb County’s Teen, Carrington Manous, from Atlanta, GA.  She attends Woodward Academy and is 15 years old.  Her Community Service Initiative is Carrington Cares: #DecodeDyslexia. She performed a lyrical dance.

First Runner-Up ($2,000 Scholarship) – Miss Atlanta’s Teen, Melony Tidmore, from Powder Springs, GA.  She attends Liberty University Academy and is 15 years old.   Her Community Service Initiative is Dance: A Movement towards Better Health.  She performed a Ballet en Pointe.

Second Runner-Up ($1,000 Scholarship) - Miss Rome’s Teen, Riley Wolfe-Rach, from Columbus, GA.  She attends Columbus High School and is 18 years old.  Her Community Service Initiative is R.E.A.C.H. Out: Mental Health Matters.  She performed a lyrical dance.

Third Runner-Up ($750 Scholarship) - Miss Southern River's Teen, Claire Zhang, from Swanee, GA.  She attends Lambert High School and is 17 years old. Her Community Service Initiative is Break the Silence. She performed a Chinese folk Dance.

Fourth Runner-Up ($500 Scholarship) - Miss Southeast Georgia’s Teen, Mollie Lane, from Claxton, GA.  She attends Claxton High School and is 18 years old. Her Community Service Initiative is Give Blood; Give Life.  She performed a magic routine.

  • Miss Capital City’s Teen, Sydney Synder, from Hogansville, GA.  She attends Lafayette Christian School and is 15 years old.
  • Miss Cherokee Rose’s Teen, Dakota Hubbard, from Shiloh, GA. She attends Harris County High School and is 17 years old.
  • Miss Empire of the South’s Teen, MaKayla Briscoe, from Good Hope, GA.  She attends Prince Avenue Christian School and is 16 years old.
  • Miss Greater Columbus’s Teen, Anna Morey, from Baconton, GA.  She attends Deerfield Windsor School and is 17 years old.
  • Miss International City’s Teen, Elizabeth Stanton, from Peachtree City, GA.  She attends McIntosh High School and is 18 years old.
  • Miss Middle West Georgia’s Teen, Ansleigh Rose, from Flowery Branch, GA. She attends Buford High School and is 15 years old.
  • Miss Savannah’s Teen, Sydney Crawford, from Recon, GA.  She attends South Effingham High School and is 18 years old.
  • Miss Spirit of Georgia’s Teen, Reagan Moore, from Powder Springs, GA.  She attends Hillgrove High School and is 14 years old.
  • Miss Tybee Island’s Teen, Rohi Patel, from Guyton, GA.  She attends Effingham College and Career Academy and is 14 years old.
  • Miss West Georgia’s Teen, Abigail Parham, from Bremen, GA.  She attends Breman High School and is 17 years old.

  • Miss Carroll County’s Teen, Corynn Nurse, from Douglasville, GA.  She attends Chapel Hill High School and is 17 years old.
  • Miss Gwinnett County’s Teen, Landry Wolf, from Acworth, GA.  She attends Harrison High School and is 16 years old.
  • Miss Houston County’s Teen, Hannah Shaw, from Warner Robins, GA.  She attends Northside High School and is 16 years old.
  • Miss Valdosta’s Teen, Mary Margaret Cooper, from Buford, GA.  She attends Sugar Hill Christian Academy and is 15 years old.

Non-Finalist Talent Award ($250 Scholarship)

  • Miss Georgia Coast’s Teen, Avery Twelkemeier, from St. Mary’s, GA.  She attends Camden County High School and is 16 years old.  She performed a classical vocal.
  • Miss Houston County’s Teen, Hannah Shaw, from Warner Robins, GA.  She attends Northside High School and is 16 years old.  She performed a Broadway vocal.
  • Miss Tifton’s Teen, Mary Margaret Waddel, from Americus, GA.  She attends Laurel Springs School and is 16 years old.  Her performance was a classical piano selection.

  • Miss Macon’s Teen, Madilyn Heart, from Bonaire, GA. She attends Acellus Academy and is 16 years old.
