Linda Oglesby Receives EGRMC 2022 Nursing Excellence Award

Surrounded by her peers and family, East Georgia Regional Medical Center's (EGRMC) Linda Oglesby, RN was selected to receive its 2022 Nursing Excellence Award on Monday, December 5, 2022.

This peer-nominated award, given in recognition of the critical role nurses play in treating our patients, was open to qualifying RNs and LPNs working in a direct patient care position who consistently demonstrate characteristics synonymous with nursing excellence.

"We established this award corporate wide three years ago during COVID as one more way to honor the best of the best of our team. Linda joins Jane Flack and Gayle Coursar as the previous two years winners. They are on the floors of our hospital everyday interacting and caring for patients in remarkable ways," said Stephen Pennington, CEO EGRMC. "The incredible ways they serve their patients and how they interact with their peers is why they each received this honor and why I am so proud to serve with the EGRMC team."

Linda Oglesby joined East Georgia Regional Medical Center in July 1996 and since that time Linda has made an impact on so many, earning her numerous nominations for her outstanding delivery of compassionate care in the surgery department.

Loves helping people

Linda's coworkers described her and her nursing excellence with many positive words in the nomination including: team player, hardworking, determined, leader, caring nature, attention to detail, exceptional communication skills, effective interpersonal skills, quick problem- solving abilities and empathetic disposition.

Linda was very surprised to receive this honor.

"I had no idea. They really got me. Emotionally, I just can't explain it. I feel like my calling is to help people and that is why I love nursing so much," said Lina Oglesby. "No matter where I am, I love to help people. That is just what I do. It is me. It makes me happy."

 In addition to receiving the Nursing Excellence Award itself, Linda Oglesby received a cash prize and a copy of “Shining the Light on All the Right” by Mark and Bonnie Barnes, co-founders of The DAISY Foundation, an international movement created to recognize and express gratitude for extraordinary nursing.
