Each year, the Statesboro-Bulloch Chamber of Commerce Leadership Bulloch class chooses a community project to complete as a group, in an effort to make a positive impact on the community. The Leadership Bulloch Class of 2023 has decided to raise funds to provide a van for Freedom Through Recovery: A Susan Ford Recovery Community Organization.
Freedom Through Recovery is a local 501c3 organization focused on providing community and connection to those navigating recovery through education, advocacy, and peer-based support services.
"After learning about Freedom Through Recovery during one of our visits around Bulloch County and the work they're doing for the recovering community in Statesboro, we wanted to help ensure they could truly mobilize people to getting back on their feet," Sarah Rapillard, project co-leader, said.
Because of budget constraints and the number of individuals being served, the need for transportation has become urgent. FTR helps transport their peers to job interviews, meetings, medical appointments, and other appointments.
"A van will provide so much help to our organization because we're in a rural community," Catherine Tootle, executive director of FTR said. "We'll be able to get not just a peer who is seeking services and wellness and health but the whole family unit to where they need to go."
Multiple level of sponsorship are available, and sponsor logos will appear on the donated van. All sponsorship levels will also receive social media recognition on the Chamber and FTR social media accounts; a tax deduction; and knowledge that they are supporting and growing FTR's mission! You can view all sponsorship levels here.
The class is currently more than halfway to their goal for the project. Franklin Toyota has generously provided a discount on the van to make the purchase possible.
"We're so excited to partner with Freedom Through Recovery to help them help others," project co-leader Mary-Lynn Pennington added.
