Jodi Kennedy has been named Altrusan of the Year for her outstanding service and dedication to the Statesboro community.

According to local Altrusa leadership, Jodi has played a crucial role in various projects, including serving as co-vice president and treasurer of Altrusa, scouting children's books for the Ruth MacKinnon Literacy project, and managing the book nook at Hearts and Hands Clinic.

Earlier this year, the Altrusans celebrated a milestone of donating more than 100,000 books locally as part of their Ruth MacKinnon project.

Kennedy's exceptional work in gathering club information, coordinating Georgia Southern students in assisting with book coding, and supporting Statesboro Altrusa has made a significant impact.

Through her servant leadership, she reflects the motto of Altrusa International: 'Leading to a better community.'

"I am honored to be a part of the Altrusa Club of Statesboro and to be recognized as an Altrusan of the Year," Kennedy said. "The Altrusans are some of the hardest working people that I know and are dedicated to advancing literacy initiatives in our community. It’s an honor to serve alongside them."

Altrusa is an international non-profit organization making our local communities better through leadership, partnership, and service.

The club offers an opportunity to make a real difference in Bulloch County through a variety of service, literacy, fundraising, and international projects each year. The Statesboro chapter meets on the first Monday of the month for its business meeting and on the third Monday of the month for its program meeting.
