Georgia Southern University’s beloved Holiday Helper Tree is nearing the end of its 2024 gifting period, and there are still more than 100 holiday wish tags left on the tree. We need your help to make these wishes come true!
Join this important local effort and PULL YOUR TAG(S) HERE today!
(You will need to register for an account with your email to pull and save your tags.)
Coordinator Emily Tanner says many of the remaining wishes are for a simple gift card, which can easily be purchased online and mailed directly to recipient organizations, and most are for senior adults, with a few gifts for teens and children remaining.
Each tag represents a neighbor in need, and ALL gifts are greatly appreciated! Please join this GRICE GOOD effort to help clear the tree.
Since its inception in 1994, the program has offered students, faculty, staff, alumni, and community members an opportunity to give back to those in need, providing essentials and special gifts during the holiday season for vulnerable populations in Bulloch and Chatham counties.
"The Holiday Helper Tree began in 1994,” said Eileen Sconyers Smith, co-founder and retired director of the program. “It started off small and slow, but it gained speed over the years as we were able to help more people. It has grown tremendously, now with about 650 to 700 tags on the tree. Georgia Southern has always embraced the spirit of giving, and we’re proud of Eagle Nation for continuing this tradition.”
Each year, approximately 800 individuals from over 20 community organizations benefit from the support provided by the Holiday Helper Tree.
