Looking for fun things to do with your family while staying close to home? Look no further! Bulloch County offers lots of fun activities—that are also easy on your wallet.

Start your day off with an early morning walk or bike ride on S&S Trail! The trail runs on the former Savannah & Statesboro Railroad right-of-way. Kids will enjoy the trail, flanked with woods, as a great place to ride bikes. Keep a look out for birds and wildlife too!

The Trailhead is located at Gentilly Road, across from Howard Lumber, then ends at Pretoria Rushing Road. The trail is open 24 hours a day.

Next up, cool down at the Luetta Moore Park Splash Pad! Newly renovated in 2021, the park offers a playground, pool, and splash pad. (We have lots of other well-maintained public parks, too!)

The Luetta Moore pool and splash pad are open from 10am-5:30pm Monday through, 10am-7:30pm on Saturdays, and noon-5:30pm on Sundays. Admission is just $3 per person.

As another cool option, don’t forget to visit the Statesboro-Bulloch County Library to participate in one of their many Summer programs. While you're there, check in at the front desk to learn how you can visit state parks and even Zoo Atlanta!

Available at the library with a valid library card, patrons can borrow a Georgia State Park ParkPass and Historic Site pass. To see a list of parks and historic sites covered by the passes, visit www.GeorgiaStateParks.org. Adults with a valid library card in Georgia can also check out the Zoo Atlanta Library Pass for free admission for a family of four.

The library is open from 8am-7pm Monday through Thursday and from 9am-6pm on Friday and Saturday.

The center offers a variety of one time workshops for a fun couple of hours to get your creative juices flowing. Summer Camp for kids is still in full swing, too! It's not too late to get your kids signed up here for July.

During the summer, the Wildlife Center is open from 9am-4:45pm, Monday through Friday only.

After you visit the Wildlife Center, take a short walk down to Sweetheart Circle, where you'll find the Georgia Southern Museum and can check out their current exhibits.

Kids of all ages love the permanent exhibit Uncharted Worlds: “Come face-to-face with a mosasaur, Tylosaurus proriger, a 78 million-year-old, 26 foot-long marine reptile, and Georgiacetus vogtlensis, a 41 million-year-old whale, the most primitive whale fossil discovered in North America.”

This week, kids can enjoy Shark Week at the museum, too!

The museum is open Tuesday through Friday from 9am-5pm and on Sundays from 2-5pm.

Address: 2142 Southern Dr, Statesboro, GA 30458

As your day is winding down, enjoy the rest of the afternoon strolling downtown, and drop back by the main gallery at the Averitt Center for the Arts to check out the current gallery exhibit. Or if it's a Thursday, you might just luck out with a Downtown Live concert just outside the Averitt doors!
