The over 430 student-athletes who make up the Georgia Southern Athletics Department earned a 3.136 GPA for the Fall 2023 semester, as announced by Director of Athletics Jared Benko. This mark is the highest fall semester average on record.
For the semester, women's tennis posted the highest team GPA for the department with a 3.84 and men's tennis had the highest team GPA on the men's side with a 3.72. Overall, 275 student-athletes earned a place on the honor roll (3.0 or higher).
Of that group, 100 made the Dean's List (3.50-3.99) and 76 made the President's List for earning a perfect 4.0 semester GPA.
"I am very proud of our student-athletes' record-breaking performance in the classroom this fall," Benko said. "We continue to push for a 3.2 Department GPA for the academic year as set forth as a goal in our Strategic Plan and this fall's effort puts us on a track to meet that goal. I appreciate the work Ryan Gilbert and his staff put in day-in and day-out to position our student-athletes for success."

Additionally, 13 of the 17 programs earned a 3.0 or higher for the fall semester with several setting program records.
- Baseball: 3.45 (15th consecutive semester with a 3.0 or higher; new fall team record)
- Men's Golf: 3.40 (23rd consecutive semester with a 3.0 or higher)
- Men's Soccer: 3.42 (6th consecutive semester with a 3.0 or higher; tied fall team record)
- Men's Tennis: 3.72 (24th consecutive semester with a 3.0 or higher; new fall team record)
- Rifle: 3.54 (9th consecutive semester with a 3.0 or higher; ties fall team record) • Softball: 3.56 (27th consecutive semester with a 3.0 or higher)
- Volleyball: 3.39 (29th consecutive semester with a 3.0 or higher)
- Women's Golf: 3.51 (3rd consecutive semester with 3.0 or higher)
- Women's Soccer: 3.51 (12th consecutive semester with a 3.0 or higher)
- Women's Swimming: 3.43 (33rd consecutive semester with a 3.0 or higher)
- Women's Track and Field: 3.39 (7th consecutive semester with 3.0 or higher; new fall team record)
- Women's Tennis: 3.84 (38th consecutive semester with a 3.0 or higher; new fall team record)
- Women's Cross Country: 3.55 (8th consecutive semester with 3.0 or higher)
