The Georgia Southern PAC is back, offering a unique way to enjoy the ‘LOVE' of theater! Performances for children, students, families, senior adults -- they've got it all, and they'll be part of the PAC's Matinee Series for this coming season.
Matinees are day-time convenient, only about 45-60 minutes in duration, family-friendly, and cost-efficient. They are a great way to avoid evening crowds and still have the pleasure of the theater ambiance.
The Matinee Series returns soon in full force with its most ambitious lineup yet. In the coming months, the PAC will welcome students, schools, families, and educators with 11 productions between October 2024 and April 2025.
Historically, the PAC Matinee Series has only been open to school groups. After listening to YOUR feedback, the PAC has opened the School Matinee Series to the community: families, homeschool groups, and senior living communities.
To keep in focus with the University's mission: "to enhance quality of life through scholarly pursuits, cultural enrichment, student life and community engagement," the PAC is facilitating a space for education and learning for both Georgia Southern theater students and the students of Greater Bulloch County.
They are collaborating with Georgia Southern Theater on two productions, 'Peter and the Starcatcher,’ a prequel to Peter Pan full of mermaids, crocodiles and intrigue, and the Restoration comedy, ‘William Wycherly’s the Country Wife,’ which is the perfect selection for high school students, book clubs, historical societies, and literary groups.
Daniel Brown, PAC Director, had this to say about the collaboration: “Being able to give the greater Bulloch County area students the accessibility and opportunity to see what actual Georgia Southern students are doing, while simultaneously keeping arts programming at the forefront, is a wonderful thing for education of both our students and those who are visiting. To secure future Eagles and provide Arts education is a paramount goal for the PAC’s staff. The PAC will be collaborating with several partners including Georgia Southern’s Center for STEM Education to help facilitate educational expenses.”
In addition, the PAC will host 9 educational shows from professionally touring artists and theater companies.
"'Nobuntu’ will perform during Bulloch County's Fall Break, giving families the opportunity to build memories and see an affordable educational show together,” shared Brown.
