The Georgia Bureau of Investigation announces the promotion of Tanja Kopp to Assistant Manager of the GBI’s Coastal Regional Crime Lab in Pooler, GA. Assistant Manager Kopp will be responsible for assisting the Manager with the supervision of staff and others within the Coastal Crime Lab.
“Tanja Kopp brings a wealth of experience to her new role,” said GBI Director Chris Hosey. “She has served her entire GBI career at the Coastal Regional Crime Lab in Pooler, making her a perfect fit for the Assistant Manager position. Tanja will use her scientific expertise and leadership skills to guide the scientists and staff at the GBI’s Coastal Regional Crime Lab.”

Kopp has served her entire GBI career in the Coastal Regional Crime Lab in Pooler, GA. She is a member of the Southern Association of Forensic Scientists and has served as the treasurer since 2013.
Kopp graduated from Armstrong Atlantic State University, now known as Georgia Southern University, with a bachelor’s degree in chemistry and a minor in physics.
Kopp is from Effingham County, GA, where she still resides.
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is comprised of four divisions: the Georgia Crime Information Center, the Crime Laboratory, the Investigative Division, and the Legal Division. The GBI has over 900 employees and a current budget of $147,482,036.
